Brand Reveal — Courtney Potter 07•06•2018

I’ve worked with Courtney for years on her wedding photography brand.  We’ve spent years tweaking her website and her print materials, upleveling her brand without a full rebrand.  After about 3 years of working together, it was clear that she had hit that moment where it was really worthwhile to undergo a full rebrand.  I was so excited to work with her on this, and oh my goodness, it more than lived up to my excitement.

Courtney officially stepped into her creative calling for abstract painting and needed her brand to fully encompass her photography AND painting work and celebrate all of the self-expression, vulnerability, passion and authenticity that is wrapped up in that journey (for her AND her clients) of creating her artwork.  Courtney realized as she was transitioning to offering commissioned paintings and doing gallery art shows, that her audience had become a different person than she was used to selling her photography services to.  We spent a lot of time figuring out who this new client was and what truly attracted them to her.  This process is my favorite part of branding.  We really dug into it, and I was floored when I opened Courtney’s 14 page document of answers to my brand workbook.  Because of her hard work, I was able to jump right into her design and create so many beautiful details for her brand that hit the nail right on the head.

We created her entire brand design around appealing to her new clients that were on a journey.  They are brave and authentic and seeking something that her artwork is able to help them find (often right inside themselves).  Her logo mimics the organic fluidity of her painting style, and we also created subtle pattern designs and graphic elements to use throughout her brand that incorporate pieces of a compass.  My favorite part of her brand is the snippet of one of Courtney’s actual fluid painting that is incorporated into all of her pieces.
